At Michigan State University, campus police react in force to a student protest during an appearance of Minuteman Chris Simcox, arresting 5 Mexican American students while ignoring white protestors. White anti-racist students speak in solidarity (video), followed by the students of color who were arrested (video), and finally university officials (video). On the other side of the world, "academic staff" of the University of Queensland hold a campus discussion on the whiteness of their institution. | |||||||||

Would you believe South Carolina has a "Confederate Memorial Day" and paid a few million to give all state employees the day off? For all the talk about cultural competence in social services, few providers acknowledge whiteness.
