From last issue's editorial: "That part of the mainstream that showers prestige and money on anti-racist activists favors white ones. We know in a white supremacist culture, that's what happens. In the smaller, more concentrated community of white anti-racist activists who wish to be part of a larger multiracial anti-racist movement, that's as much an obstacle as it is a benefit."
Do we “know in a white supremacist culture, that's what happens” or are we just assuming that?
Has anyone done an ‘apples to apples’ study on the incomes/honorarium/fees/et al. of those in the ‘anti-racist activist business’ and a comparision of percentage of available anti-racist work (speaking engagements/lectures, books, seminars, etc.) going to white anti-racist enterprises VS people of color anti-racist enterprises?
I’m sure that if disparities were discovered and pointed out to the Tim’s and Peggy’s or the world, that they were found to be ‘profiting’ financially more than their counterparts of color, they would be more than willing to reduce their fees to counter this white supremacist cultural outcome. If you have data to support the statement, please forward it to Peggy and Tim…
